6-Day Gorilla Trekking and Karisimbi Hike.


Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.
On early morning arrival at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda and after finalizing the formalities, you shall be welcomed by your guide who will transfer you to Kisoro in Uganda. Enjoy spectacular views of the hilly countryside and winding roads on your way to your accommodation.

Day 2: Drive to Mgahinga for Gorilla trekking.
This morning you will get up very early and drive to Mgahinga National Park for gorilla trekking. Trekking the Mountain Gorilla is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The trek will take between 2 and 6 hours, but is well worth the effort. You will be led by an experienced ranger who will tell you interesting facts about flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas.

* Best Time to Visit: June to August and December to January.
* High Season: June to September (Gorilla permits are scarce).
* Best Weather: Jun to Aug and Dec to Jan (Less rainfall).

Day 3: Drive to Volcanoes national park.
After breakfast, depart for Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. The journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible.

* Best Time to Visit: Jun to Sep (It is drier and trails are easier to hike).
* High Season: Jun to Sep (Permits are scarce).
* Best Weather: June to October (Sunny, but not too hot).

* Mid-range lodge located just outside Volcanoes NP.

Day 4: Hike Mount Karisimbi.
After breakfast, transfer to the Park office and commence registration and then you will have an introductory talk with your ranger, who will accompany you during the 2 days. The Karisimbi is the highest mountain of the Virunga mountain range and its ascent to the camp takes about 6 hours. A hike in the Volcanoes National Park is not ordinary, it offers special insights into the flora and fauna. Primates such as monkeys and gorillas, but also exotic plants and a variety of bird species are located here. If you’re lucky, you’ll see Colobus and Gold Apes on your tour. Overnight at about 3600 meters in the tent.

Day 5: Descend Mountain Karisimbi.
Get up early and climb to the top of Karisimbi, which at 4705 m is Rwanda’s highest mountain. The hike takes about 4 hours to the top of this sometimes snow covered volcano. At sunrise you have a fantastic panorama over the Volcanoes National Park and across to the DR Congo with the Virunga National Park. On clear days, the view from the summit, both on the Rwandan and Congolese sides, is spectacular and gives you a fantastic view of the active volcanoes Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira in the distance.

Meals & Drinks:

Day 6: Drive to Kigali and departure.
Today, you will drive to Kigali town, visit the genocide museum as well as have a short city Tour of the capital city (Time allowing). You will depart for the Airport and take your flight back home.

* Kigali International Airport (Rwanda)

* No accommodation (End of tour)

Meals & Drinks:

* Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included).
* Drinking water (Other drinks not included).

End of Safari

* Additional accommodation can be arranged for an extra cost.
* You’ll be dropped off at the airport (or hotel).

6)Hotel fees( the eve of the safari and the night after the safari)

In case the mentioned lodges are not available during the requested period, we will do our best to book a lodge in the same class for you (of course we will only do this after consulting you).
